Five injured in house fire in Paphos
A fire broke out in a house in the Paphos district in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it spread to neighboring buildings.
The fire broke out at around 3am on the ground floor and veranda of the apartment building. Five of the six residents were admitted to Paphos General Hospital with breathing difficulties and injuries after escaping from the first floor.
According to police, a married couple lived in the house with their two small children and grandparents. The fire brigade was dispatched at 3:14 a.m. with three fire engines from the Paphos fire station. The firefighters extinguished the flames using breathing apparatus and water hoses.
According to authorities, the fire broke out in a plastic storage shed attached to the house, which was empty at the time. Investigators will examine the scene in daylight to determine the exact cause of the fire. The Paphos Criminal Investigation Department is leading the investigation.
Although they managed to escape before the flames spread further, five of the occupants suffered smoke inhalation, while one also suffered burns and other injuries.
The investigation is continuing in cooperation with the police and fire department.
