Cyprus is currently experiencing the hottest days of the summer so far. The Meteorological Service has issued an orange weather warning for both Wednesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Between 12:00 and 17:00, maximum temperatures of up to 43 degrees Celsius are expected in the interior of the island. 

The regions of Nicosia, Morphou, Mesaoria and the interior around Larnaca and Paphos are particularly affected, where temperatures between 42 and 43 degrees are possible. On the coast, about 33 degrees are expected in Paphos and 36 degrees in Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Protaras. In the higher altitudes of the Troodos Mountains, temperatures will rise to around 32 degrees. 

The authorities are calling on residents and holidaymakers to avoid direct sunlight during the hottest time of the day, to drink enough water and to move physical activities to the early morning or evening hours if possible. Older people, children and people with health restrictions are particularly at risk.

According to meteorologists, temperatures are expected to drop slightly again from Friday and drop by four to five degrees. Until then, however, the heat stress remains exceptionally high.
