WHAT’S ON THIS WEEKEND IN CYPRUS
From live music in Larnaca and street food in Nicosia to rose-filled villages, museum tours and art fairs across the island, this weekend offers a packed cultural programme for all tastes.
Friday events
As the week comes to a close, Friday night in Larnaca turns up the volume at Savino Live. The venue hosts a special guitar showcase featuring Irene Ketikidi, Bob Saganas and MARANG. Each artist brings a distinct sound — from high-energy rock and progressive metal to heavy jazz-fusion — in an evening dedicated to the versatility of the guitar. The show starts at 9.30pm.
In Nicosia, book lovers can spend the evening at the Soloneion Outdoor Book Bazaar, which continues into Saturday. The courtyard of the book centre transforms into an open-air market offering discounts on a wide selection of books, from fiction and poetry to history and travel.
Saturday events
Saturday begins with culture and heritage at the Severis-CVAR Foundation in Nicosia, which hosts a guided museum tour ahead of International Museum Day. Led by Dr Rita Severis, the tour offers a closer look at the museum’s collections and Cyprus’ cultural history. Entry is free, but registration is required.
Later in the afternoon, the neighbourhood of Ayioi Omologites comes alive with the “Dance, Dance in the Neighbourhood” festival. Streets close for dance workshops inspired by traditions from Cyprus, Greece, southern Italy and Asia Minor, followed by a communal glenti in the church courtyard.
As evening approaches, Nicosia’s old town welcomes back the AKORA Street Food Party at Municipality Square. Visitors can expect street food stalls, cocktails, beers and DJ sets running into the night.
At the same time, the village of Vavla offers a more relaxed atmosphere with its Musical Promenade. Live performances take place across different village locations, accompanied by street food, cocktails and a small artisan market, with visitors moving between stops using a provided map.
Weekend-long events
The 18th Agros Rose Festival continues throughout the weekend in the mountains, celebrating the region’s famous roses with markets, traditional music, workshops and early morning rose picking.
In Limassol, the 2nd Vima Art Fair runs from Friday to Sunday, presenting contemporary art exhibitions, installations and performances across multiple venues, with parallel events extending to other areas of Cyprus.
Ayia Napa Marina hosts the Chef’s Kiss Food Festival, featuring live cooking demonstrations, food workshops and entertainment throughout the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Laughter Festival brings stand-up comedy and theatre performances for adults and children across a three-day programme in Nicosia.
In short
Whether it’s guitars in Larnaca, street food in the capital, roses in Agros or village music in Vavla, this weekend is all about stepping out and experiencing Cyprus through culture, food, music and community events spread across the island.
