Pictures and posts are currently spreading on social networks claiming that the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is alive in Israel – including in Tel Aviv. 
This portrayal is false. The circulating photos are demonstrably AI-generated fakes without any credible basis.

The Epstein case has been attracting enormous attention on the Internet for years. It is precisely this dynamic that is regularly exploited to circulate new rumors, conspiracy narratives and manipulated content. The current claim that Epstein is still alive is one of the most viral hoaxes in recent days.

Several pictures show a person who is said to resemble Epstein – with a beard and sunglasses, allegedly traveling in Israeli cities and accompanied by men who act like bodyguards. In the background, street signs with Hebrew script and references to Tel Aviv can be seen. It is precisely these details that are intended to suggest authenticity.

On closer inspection, however, the pictures quickly turn out to be fakes.

MFRadio.de allowed itself the fun of recreating the images itself with AI Prompt and as can be seen in the article picture, it is relatively easy to recreate such images.

A central indication is a visible watermark from the AI service Google Gemini on the original image that can be found on social media, which is still present in some versions of the images. Although this sign has been partially cut away, other features remain:

– The street signs do not meet the Israeli standard. Official signs are usually trilingual (Hebrew, Arabic, English).
 – The Hebrew characters do not make a meaningful text.
 – Alleged location information demonstrably does not exist in Tel Aviv.

In addition, Google provides images created with Gemini with an invisible digital label, the so-called SynthID. If such an image is uploaded to the system again, it can be clearly determined whether AI tools were used to create or edit it. That is exactly the case here.

The fact that Israel was chosen as the alleged place of residence is no coincidence. In the well-known Epstein files, real connections to Israel appear, including contacts with well-known personalities. These actual overlaps are deliberately exaggerated and distorted on the Internet.

Again and again, it is claimed that Epstein was part of intelligence operations. So far, there is no reliable evidence for such theses. Even the mere mention of names or contacts does not prove state control or a conspiracy.

The current AI images are part of a larger wave of fake content. These include manipulated photos, edited group pictures or digitally altered archive recordings. The goal is usually maximum reach, political propaganda or simply provocation.

Other rumors - such as about Epstein's allegedly active online accounts - have also turned out to be trolling or deliberate deception on closer examination. Individual real details are taken out of context in order to construct spectacular but false stories.
