Former Trump advisor Bannon: “The Germans are destroying their country before their own eyes”
Steve Bannon in conversation:
Views on Germany, the AfD and global power structures
The publicist and producer Stephen Kevin "Steve" Bannon was one of the most important figures behind Donald Trump in the 2016 election campaign and later chief strategist in the White House. In an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, he spoke about Germany, the AfD, the role of China and the influence of the super-rich. MFRadio.de summarizes his key statements.
Its origin and the principle of common sense
"I come from a working-class family. In American history, common sense has always prevailed in the end. Every big decision that turned out to be right in hindsight required great sacrifices from the generation that made it. That's exactly where we are again today."
Bannon on the AfD
"I am not claiming that it is the ultimate solution to all problems. But it has the courage to say out loud what many people think and to represent certain political demands. The German establishment has maneuvered the country into an economic dead end. The move away from fossil fuels is irrational. Germany, as a leading industrial nation, is heading straight for economic collapse - caused by mass immigration and deindustrialization. The AfD is one of the few political forces that opposes these developments."
The threat to small and medium-sized businesses from China
"Germany is culturally shaped in its different regions. People in the East tick differently than those in the West - some are more direct, others more sociable. What impresses me about the AfD is that it is not afraid to stand up against undesirable developments. Germany has a serious problem with its media, which either does not look closely or does not want to recognize the crisis. China is deliberately exploiting this situation. The middle class is being systematically weakened, entire industries have already been bought up or undermined. While other countries are counteracting this, Germany seems to be racing towards self-destruction almost without a fight."
The Power of the Global Elite
"The central problems in migration policy are the result of the globalist elite , which we call the 'Davos faction' . These people have little to do with the traditional values of the Western world - they rely solely on power and money. They are interested in the maximum concentration of wealth and influence. Hypocrisy is their trademark: Elon Musk played along until recently, the others did so until the evening of November 5th. Jeff Bezos recently received an award at the White House. Mark Zuckerberg is one of them too. They behave like teenagers who stage themselves as superheroes. But when their strategies failed, they changed course: first they suppressed our voices, then they tried to eliminate us. And when that failed, they simply jumped to the other side."
