Terrible tragedy in Limassol: Family with three children dies in devastating fire
A family of five died in a fire at their house in the Ayios Nikolaos district of Limassol in the early hours of Saturday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene at 4:08 a.m., the second floor of their house was already on fire, said fire department spokesman Andreas Kettis.
Family members living on different floors noticed the fire and tried in vain to help.
The house was built partly in wood, masonry and plasterboard construction.
According to police, authorities received an emergency call at 4 a.m. and were dispatched with four fire trucks, which arrived on the scene within eight minutes.
After the flames were extinguished, the remains of all five family members were found: a 35-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and their children aged seven, three and two.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
